Abstract

Victoria will focus on discussing  existing EC policies and recent policy developments designed to support open science across Europe. She will present the current open access policy and the plans of the Commission for open science in Horizon Europe, the revised Recommendation on access to and preservation of scientific information and research data in the proposed revision of the PSI directive. She will discuss Plan S and its possible implementation in the context of the current and future FP requirements, the initiative of the EC for an open access publishing platform and the launch of the European Open Science Cloud.

Author Biography

Victoria Tsoukala, European Commission, Directorate General for Communications Networks Content and Technology

Victoria Tsoukala works as a Policy Officer in the European Commission, DG RTD.A6: Open Data Policy and Science Cloud, in Secondment from her position at the National Documentation Centre/National Hellenic Foundation in Athens Greece. In DG RTD she works primarily on open access and open science policies in the context of H2020 and FP9. She holds a PhD and MA in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College, PA, USA and a BA in History and Archaeology at Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece.  Her permanent position is with the National Documentation Centre/National Hellenic Foundation, where she has worked since 2009 on institutional infrastructures in scholarly communication for open science, as well as open access and open science policy. She has participated in and/or coordinated numerous EU-funded projects on the topic of open access policies and infrastructures.  She publishes in scholarly communications, open access and research policy, and archaeology.
