Abstract

This report presents the results for the Southern Sámi area from the SAMINOR 3 Health and Living Conditions Survey.

The survey was conducted from 24 October 2023 to 23 April 2024 in 16 Southern Sámi municipalities: Røros – Rosse, Tydal – Tyjdaelie, Namsos – Nåavmesjenjaelmie (Namdalseid only), Rennebu, Høylandet – Hillaante, Meråker – Mearohke, Steinkjer (Verran only) – Stïentje, Lierne – Lïjre, Snåsa – Snåase, Namsskogan – Laakesvuemie, Røyrvik – Raarvihke, Engerdal – Engerdaelie, Hemnes – Heäjmmanássja–Hïejmenaassjoe, Hattfjelldal – Aarborte, Grane – Gaaloe, and Vefsn – Vaapste (excluding Mosjøen).

The report compiles results for Sámi participants in the 16 municipalities and compares health indicators with those of the rest of the population living in the same areas. The aim is to strengthen knowledge about health and quality of life among the Southern Sámi population. The topics covered in this report are not identical to all the topics addressed in the municipal reports, but place particular emphasis on quality of life and mental health.
