Call for papers: monographic section on polarity phenomena (2027)
'Borealis' opens submissions to the monographic section of volumes 16(1) and (16(2), which this time will be devoted to polarity phenomena in languages of the Hispanic world. Submissions of any length will be considered for publication up to the 1st of March 2027 (volume 16.1) and 15th of September 2027 (volume 16.2). Topics that are of interest for this monographic issue include, but are not restricted to, the following:
a) The syntax and semantics of Negative Polarity Items (NPIs) or Positive Polarity Items (PPIs)
b) Contexts of licensing of NPIs and PPIs
c) The morphological expression of negation
d) Polarity in clauses and polarity in smaller constituents
e) The interaction between polarity and other operators or functional projections
f) Devices to express emphatic affirmatives and negation
g) Pragmatic aspects of polarity
h) Acquisition and processing of polarity phenomena
