In connection with the cleaning of the road ditch to Rv82 in Reinsnes on Hinnøya, Sortland municipality, damage was caused to the farm mound Id175339. To secure the source value of the cultural monument, the University Museum documented the damaged areas and arranged for its restoration, which was carried out at the end of October 2024. The investigation consisted of cleaning, investigation and documentation of an approximately 70 m long profile along the road ditch. Of this, slightly over 30 m consisted of well-preserved farm mound layers, with slightly disturbed waste layers north and south of these. The investigation documented the possible remains of two houses: one that should have stood on the site sometime around the year 1100 AD, and a possible floor layer for a second house that is probably dated to the second half of the 16th century. The farm may have been abandoned sometime around the mid-14th century and then resumed in the 16th century, but this hypothesis requires further investigation to be confirmed.
