At Sørrollnes, an Early Stone Age settlement was investigated in connection with the replacement of water pipes. The site, registered in 2011, is located on a terrace 58–60 meters above sea level and dates to the Early Mesolithic (9500–8500 BCE). The investigations uncovered 444 finds, primarily quartzite with some flint, indicating short-term stays with local raw material utilization. The finds include debitage, cores, and a few tools such as a fragment of a tanged point, scrapers, and a burin.
The material shows similarities to other Early Mesolithic sites in the region, such as Stangnes Syd and Årbogen 2, as well as sites further north in Troms and Finnmark. The finds contribute to a better understanding of early settlement and mobility in southern Troms, and the site is interpreted as part of a larger network of Early Mesolithic settlements.
