In the summer of 2025, the Arctic University Museum of Norway carried out archaeological monitoring of excavation work for drainage around a house located on the farm mound at Vollstad in Harstad Municipality. Previous investigations have documented traces of settlement in the farm mound dating back to the 14th century. During the monitoring, a few pockets of cultural deposits were recorded in the eastern part of the monitored area, but no finds or clearly defined cultural layers that with certainty can be dated to the medieval period were identified.
