Focus and Scope
The NAMMCO Scientific Publications series was established to make available in published, peer-reviewed form, scientific knowledge that is important for decision-making on the conservation and management of marine mammals. The NAMMCO Scientific Committee provides scientific advice on marine mammal species and stocks in the North Atlantic in response to requests forwarded to it by the Council of NAMMCO. Most volumes are organised around a theme, which has often been connected to the requests for advice received by the NAMMCO Scientific Committee. Further information on the series can be found on the NAMMCO website.
Peer Review Process
Manuscripts that are submitted as original research articles are sent out for at least two independent reviews, in addition to being reviewed by one of the Scientific Editors of the particular volume. The reviews are blind. Manuscripts submitted as Notes or Reviews may not be sent out for blind peer review but will be reviewed by at least the one of the Editors.
Publication Frequency
NAMMCO Scientific Publications typically arise from special topics discussed at workshops, symposiums, and expert working groups. As such, publication of volumes occurs intermittently, however we usually strive for a yearly volume.
