Несколько замечаний о метафоре в «Трех Толстяках» Юрия Олеши(Some Notes on Metaphors in “The Three Fat Men” by Yuri Olesha)

Abstract

Yuri Olesha's first novel, "Tri Tolstjaka" (The Three Fat Men) abounds with similes. The paper tries to define the pecularities of these construc- tions, pointing at their focus on surface qualities, especially the colour, of objects and their connotations of the world of entertainment. Moreover, the function of the novel's similes is viewed in conjunction with its general message and its presupposed juvenile audience.
