Space-Time Asymmetries in Russian Prepositions: Preliminary Analysis

Abstract

This study, which focuses on the Russian prepositions za ‘behind', pod ‘under', na ‘on' and v ‘in', shows that there are systematic differences in case usage between spatial and temporal constructions. These space-time asymmetries are related to important questions about time and space in linguistics, cognitive science and philosophy.
