Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in the journal's Word template.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Word template.
- Where available, DOIs for the references have been provided.
Peer-reviewed articles
All submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by at least two specialist referees independently of the editorial board. The review system used is double-blind, i.e. anonymous to both author and reviewer. The text may not exceed 50,000 characters including footnotes (bibliography excluded).

Peer-reviewed essays
This section is reserved for articles that introduce a research field or analytical approach in an essayistic manner. The texts can be of various lengths, but should not exceed 50,000 characters including footnotes. These texts may or may not undergo peer-review, on decision of the editorial team. Essays that have been through a peer review process will be clearly marked in the PDF as well as the metadata when published.

Short essays
This section is reserved for articles that introduce a research field or analytical approach in an essayistic manner. Debate
In this section, we welcome comments and discussions on topical subjects in current societal and/or scholarly debate. The texts can be of various lengths, but should not exceed 20,000 characters including footnotes. These texts may also undergo peer-review, on decision of the editorial team. Debate articles that have been through a peer review process will be clearly marked in the PDF as well as the metadata when published.
